Lite Version

We provide an EdgeSwitch firmware with the Lite suffix. This firmware limits the maximum VLAN count from 4093 to 255, reducing the memory utilization compared to the normal firmware version. If you have no requirement for 255 and more VLANs, you might consider using the Lite firmware. Note that the Lite firmware reduces the total VLAN count to 255, not the allowed VLAN ID range.

Please check your configuration before you update to the Lite firmware version, as VLAN config will be lost if there are more than 255 defined VLANs.

Memory re-tuning

This memory re-tuning mechanism checks the flag from firmware version 1.8.2 and after. The device will reboot again and perform memory re-tuning when the flag does not exist. That means that the system will reboot one more time if you are first launching this firmware on the unit.

Memory re-tuning might takes about ~5-10 minutes on some units. If your EdgeSwitch does not respond after 10 minutes, please power cycle the unit manually.

[FIX] Boot loop issue!

Addressed boot loop issue that could occur after upgrading from an older firmware release (pre v1.8.2) to v1.9.X.

• It is now possible to upgrade to the v1.9.X version directly from an older firmware release.
• It is no longer necessary to upgrade to intermediary firmware (v1.8.2 or v1.8.3) first.

Lite Version

Boot loop issue!

Please check whether the EdgeSwitch is memory re-tuned by upgrading to the v1.8.2 or v1.8.3 firmware prior to upgrading to v1.9.0!

• The memory needs to be re-calibrated first, otherwise the EdgeSwitch might end up in a continuous boot loop. See the Memory re-tuning section below for more information on the feature.
• The issue only affects the ESWH models and not ESGH (ES-16-XG).
• Workaround: Reset the device to factory defaults by pressing the physical reset button when the EdgeSwitch is experiencing the boot loop. See the help center article here for more information.

Known issues

ISSUE:

[ESWH] ES might boots in loop once if the ES unit boot `1.9.0` without memory re-calibrating.

We found some (not all) ES unit (ESWH) will keep booting in loop.

Workaround:

1. If your ES (ESWH) is booting in loop. please reset to factory default by pressing the reset button.
2. If your ES (ESWH) is not memory re-calibrated, please update to `1.8.2` or `1.8.3` first and reboot for memory re-calibrating. After memory re-calibration, it's okay for using `1.9.0`.

The issue will be fixed in next version.
