Sharing what I have learned from using Noctua "silent" fans in a 24 port poe switch...

Bought a Ubiquiti US-24-POE-250W off eBay that had underpowered Noctua fans. It would start acting up after about a week. Swapped the OEM fans back in — rock solid ever since.

What actually matters (learn from my pain):

If you’re swapping fans, size is not the important spec.

CFM (airflow) and amperage rating are.

Noctua’s whole thing is “quiet over airflow,” which is great for a PC. But in a 1U network switch, airflow isn’t optional — it’s survival.

So yeah… if you’re thinking about doing a fan swap:

Don’t just match size

Don’t just trust “premium brand”

Match or exceed the original CFM + amp specs

Otherwise, you’re basically installing decorative fans and hoping for the best.

Appreciate all the input from everyone earlier on my other post — figured I’d close the loop for the next poor soul who finds this thread at 2AM.
