I really need the feature that allows you to include layouts in playlists. Currently, you can only add photos and videos to playlists.

Despite reset to factory settings and new installation, the error occurs again and again.

Seems to be still a bug in the software.

No matter what max amp setting I tell the charger to output, it is always sending 1-2 more than the limit.

Current setup.

• Two EV Station Lite chargers installed in my garage
• 1 - 6/3 NM-B wire run from main panel
• Run is about 50ft
• 60 amp breaker in main panel
• Main wire run is into a garage junction box
• Polaris multitap connectors used to split main run to each charger
• Run from junction box to each charger 4awg THHN wire of about 5ft.
• Was originally 6awg THHN, but I was experiencing throttling on my chargers (44amp to 32amp) due to overheating after a few hours of use, so I upsized that wire to see if it would help (it did not).
• Chargers sit in a load management group
• 44amps available in total
• 44amps available to each charger

I started a chat/ticket with Unifi support on the 14th, but it has stalled. They originally wanted me to flash a new firmware, but when they learned of the overheating issues (which they asked me proactively about), they had me pause and await further instructions.

The over amperage happens with the chargers in a load management group and with them set as stand alone (did the second as a test).

My car's screen will even show the handshake of allowable amps as higher than the charger should be providing.

Slightly concerned with liability. Seems the chargers are indeed pushing more than the set limit (as indicated by the cars screen). Currently have the limit backed down to 42 amps per charger and the load management group, to keep me below the NEC 44amp limit for my setup. But this whole thing has me worried/frustrated.

I’m writing as a UniFi shop that is already deploying Connect for digital signage and wants to standardize on it for more sites. The hardware and the UniFi console story are strong. The content layer is not, and that is the gap that keeps Connect from competing with a $400 smart TV plus a browser tab.

Today we can upload media, build playlists and layouts, and use Automations to swap content or power displays on a schedule. That is fine for a static poster that changes once a week. It is not enough for the use cases that actually justify a managed signage appliance:

Publish or replace media on a schedule without someone clicking through unifi.ui.com

Drive screens from live data (hours, wait times, alerts, menus, occupancy, ticket queues)

Assign a layout/playlist from an external system when an event happens

Do the above across many sites from a script or a customer’s own app

There is still no documented Connect API for media, playlists, layouts, or device assignment. Network, Protect, and Access have official APIs. Connect does not. Automations are one-shot state changes, not a CMS. Web URL mode is the only live path, and even that is a workaround rather than an integration.

You price Connect devices as a premium, UniFi-managed alternative to consumer displays. Without a publish API and a first-class live-data story, the product does what most smart TVs already do: show a loop of images and a webpage. The differentiators customers pay you for — central management, PoE, inventory, multi-site control — stop at the glass if content still has to be babysat in the GUI.

What we need, in priority order:

A Connect API (API key, same model as Network/Protect)

Ability to automate and or connect to to a live data source / media

Live widgets that bind to a URL, webhook, or JSON feed — not only static ticker text

A documented, supported Web/URL player mode with refresh rules, offline fallback, and cache behavior

Webhooks the other direction so our systems know when a player is online, stale, or failed to sync

Even a narrow v1 — media upload + assign playlist to device — would let MSPs and in-house IT treat Connect as infrastructure instead of a manual kiosk. As simple as watch a smb share and refresh a file from there would help.

Until that exists, we have to tell customers to keep a third-party CMS or a custom web page in front of a Cast, which undercuts the reason to buy your player.

Happy to be a design partner or beta site. We already have Connect in production and will put an API on real displays the week it ships.

It would be nice to activate Evacuation Notices on UniFi Cast devices when UniFi Access Emergency Access is activated.

At the very least, allow API access for UniFi Connect to trigger certain actions, like change Layout on screens.

I have just received an EV Station Lite. I have looked at the installation guide and I am curious to know if anyone has removed the Front Cover after they have installed it.

I am not talking about the black sheet of plastic that comes off with the suction cup. I am talking about the front assembly that covers all the wiring. It seems to be held on with 6 very strong looking clips (2 at the top, 2 left, 2 right) and looks difficult to pull apart once clipped together.

Have you clipped one together and then taken the Front Cover off?

I understand it is necessry to remove the screws from the top and bottom and then push from underneath but does it just pop off or is it a fight? I cannot see how you would insert a tool to help release the clips.

Any tips?

Was it easy or difficult ?

Has anyone found a video of the Front Cover being removed.

So I just finished charging our VW ID4, and when I disconnected the EV Station, I could smell some electrical burn. I got closer to the EV Station, and sure enough, it was coming from it. I immediately turned off the breaker to it. After waiting about 10 minutes for the EV Station to cool down, I opened it, and to my surprise, it’s trying to melt itself. I went to do an RMA, but to my surprise, it’s out of warranty. Now, to be clear, I did not install this myself. I did hire an electrician to do the install and add the two 50-amp breakers to the electrical panel. The only thing I did myself was run the Ethernet cable to it. Now I don’t know how to get a hold of Ubiquiti so they can take a look at it. The EV Station sits inside our garage, so it is not exposed to the elements. Does anyone have any idea how I can reach out to them? Or am I just out of luck, and I’m gonna have to get a replacement?

Web mode is great but it would really make the device useful if the Webpage could be used in media mode.

I'd like for this to be a configurable option, where you can opt-out of the keyboard in settings of the device. Probably somewhere in the controls section.

It worked for some time but some update broke it...

Device version is - 1.0.111

Connect version is - 3.24.22

I recently discovered that our newer TVs offer CEC with the DCs so you can actually power on the TV and it'll update the HDMI input as well, saving me running all over the building to a dozen different displays in lobbies and break rooms. It's been nice to toggle power on and off so that it'll force a TV that's off to come back on.

The issue: some custodial staff will turn displays off when not in use overnight, and so I've still come in to find displays are off and therefore Display Cast devices are off.

The suggestion: create power schedules so that the device might be in "sleep mode" and trigger CEC devices (TVs) to power on at a certain time and same with powering off to save the displays' screen life. This way it is a "set and forget" scenario and also nobody is going to touch my screens.

I am encountering a SSH connection issue with hardware acceleration on despite updating to the latest OS 5.1.31, which is resolved by disabling hardware acceleration.

Are there any known workarounds or cloud VPS providers that bypass this issue?
