As an AV professional who specifies Unifi network equipment for all my jobs, I was excited to see the PoE Audio Port announced. The input options looked good and while the output resolution may not be as high as others on the market, I'd argue 24-bit/48khz is all that majority of uses cases will ever need (or hear).

One key feature required for many commercial applications is the ability to fix the audio output level. Sadly this feature is missing for PoE Audio Port.

Given this feature is common to so many competing products, I assume Unifi will get around to enabling it at some point. Please enable it sooner rather than later - I would love to start specifying it on my projects.

A Pro (Enterprise) streamer with XLR and AE67 that can be rack mounted would also be a nice addition. Perhaps that version could be added to the Site Manager portal? I

Random Amp Reboots takes down entire network during reboot process

So I have a weird one that I believe is related to my Amps restarting. Occasionally, my Amps (four of them) go into a reboot loop where they will all reboot at the same time, and during that process, my entire network goes down, including the internet connection. My cameras go offline, my UNVR goes offline, my UNAS shows no internet on its screen, my WIFI goes down- just about everything connected to my stack. When this issue starts, the Amps will come back up for several minutes and then all reboot again. This will go out for many reboots and then seems to stop. This time around, I just unplugged them, and the rest of the symptoms have gone away; everything has stayed online and seems happy.

My topology is as follows: 4 amps --> USW 24 Pro POE -- SFP10gb --> USW 24 Pro POE -- SFP10gb -->UDM Pro --> Comcast Modem

Any idea what might be going on here? I can't find anything in the very limited logs produced by the UDM, UNAS, or UNVR.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Cash Giraffe Review: Is It Legit, or Just Another Gem-Farming Time Sink?

I'll say the quiet part first: no game app is going to pay your rent. If that's what you're hoping for, close this tab now and go look at freelance work instead. But if you already spend an hour a night tapping through mobile games out of pure boredom, the question worth asking isn't "can I get rich" it's "should that hour be earning me a few dollars in gift cards instead of nothing."

That's the question I set out to answer with Cash Giraffe.

I downloaded it on an old Android phone, played four different recommended games over three weeks, tracked every gem, and cashed out twice. One payout landed in under 48 hours. The other took closer to five days and involved a support email that never got answered. Both stories are true, and both matter if you're deciding whether to bother.

Is Cash Giraffe Legit or a Scam?

Legit. I'll say that plainly because a lot of "reviews" for apps like this hedge so hard you can't tell what they actually think.

Cash Giraffe pays. I got money from it. Independent user reviews across Trustpilot and the app stores back that up — the recurring theme isn't "this app stole my time," it's "this app pays slowly sometimes" or "my playtime didn't track correctly on my old phone." Those are real complaints, but they're a different category of problem than a scam.

To start earning some cash , use my referral link

👉 Download Cash Giraffe App : https://sites.google.com/view/download-cash-giraffe-appn-zzs/home

Where it gets murkier is customer support. There's no live chat, no phone line, nothing but an email address for justDice, and multiple users report waiting days for a response — or not getting one at all. When my second payout stalled, I emailed and heard nothing back for four days before it just... showed up. No explanation. If you're the type of person who needs closure on every transaction, that gap will bother you more than it bothered me.

What Is Cash Giraffe, Exactly?

Cash Giraffe is a free rewards app built by justDice, a mobile publisher with a handful of similar "get paid to play" apps in its catalog. The pitch is simple: download games through the app, play them, and earn "gems" for hitting playtime milestones or completing in-game objectives. Gems convert into cash, which you redeem through PayPal or gift cards once you cross a minimum threshold.

It's part of a category people call GPT apps — "get paid to" — and it sits in the same lane as Freecash and Scrambly. If you've used either of those, the gem-for-cash mechanic will feel familiar. If you haven't, think of it as a loyalty points program, except the thing you're buying loyalty with is your own idle time.

The app has racked up serious download numbers — north of 10 million on the Play Store — and sits around a 4.1 to 4.3 star average there, with a newer iOS version pulling closer to 4.6 stars. That's a wide enough sample that the rating isn't just fake reviews propping up a shell app. People genuinely use this thing.

How Cash Giraffe Actually Works

The setup takes about two minutes:

Download Cash Giraffe from the Play Store (the iOS version launched more recently, so double-check it's live in your region before you get your hopes up).

Browse the list of featured games and pick one that looks tolerable — this matters more than it sounds like it should, because a boring game makes the whole process feel like a chore.

Download that game through Cash Giraffe's link, not directly from the store, or your playtime won't get tracked.

Play. Gems accumulate based on time played and, in some games, specific milestones like "reach level 10" or "unlock a new character."

Once you've got enough gems, cash out through PayPal or a gift card of your choice.

Here's the part reviews gloss over: not every game pays evenly. Some hand out a burst of gems in the first ten minutes and then slow to a crawl. Others are the opposite — a slow grind at first, then bigger milestone payouts later. I played one puzzle game that felt generous early and one battle-strategy game that felt like it was actively trying to bore me into quitting before the good rewards kicked in.

How Much Can You Actually Earn?

Let's kill the fantasy first. You are not making a living on this app. You're not even making decent side-hustle money. What you're making is closer to the change you'd find in a couch cushion — except the couch is your phone and the cushion is forty-five minutes of your evening.

In my three weeks, playing somewhere between 30 and 90 minutes a day depending on how bored I was, I earned enough for two payouts: one around $6, one around $9. That's real, but it's not going to move the needle on anything. Reviewers elsewhere report similar numbers — small, steady, occasionally frustrating amounts, with diminishing returns the longer you stick with any single game.

The gem-to-dollar conversion is also not intuitive. It's not a clean "100 gems = $1" system across every game; the rate shifts depending on which game you're playing and what kind of milestone you hit. Expect to open a calculator app more than once if you actually want to track your effective hourly rate. Mine came out to somewhere under $2/hour, and that's being generous about the minutes I spent just browsing for a game worth playing.

Payout Methods and Minimum Thresholds

Cash Giraffe pays through PayPal and a rotating selection of gift cards — Amazon, Google Play, and a few others depending on your region. The cash-out minimum is low compared to a lot of competitors in this space, which is genuinely one of its better features. You don't need to grind for months before you see your first payout; my first one came within four days of downloading the app.

After that first payout, though, the pace slows. This is a pattern across nearly every app in this category — early rewards are generous because it's a retention tactic, and the return curve flattens hard once you're hooked. Budget your expectations accordingly.

Pros

Low cash-out minimum, especially for your first payout

Wide variety of games across genres

Fast first payout for most users

Millions of downloads and a solid app store rating

Now available on both Android and iOS

Cons

Confusing, inconsistent gem-to-dollar conversion

No customer support beyond a slow-response email

Diminishing returns the longer you play one game

Some users report playtime not tracking accurately

Not a meaningful income source — hourly rate is low

What Real Users Are Saying

Pull up the Google Play reviews and a pattern shows up fast: people who stuck with it for the first payout tend to say good things — fast money, easy setup, better than similar apps they'd tried before.

The complaints cluster around two issues. First, tracking bugs, especially on older devices, where the app stops registering playtime until you reinstall a game or restart your phone. Second, the gem system itself, which more than one reviewer described as needlessly complicated compared to competitors that just show you a running dollar total.

On Trustpilot, the sentiment skews positive too, with users specifically calling out the payment speed as a strength — though a smaller group reports the opposite, describing points or payouts that never landed.

That split is worth sitting with. It suggests the app mostly works as advertised, but when it breaks, there's no reliable way to get it fixed.

None of that reads like an app trying to rip people off. It reads like a mid-tier product with real bugs and thin support, which is a very different problem than fraud.

Android vs. iOS: Does It Matter Which You Have?

For a while, Cash Giraffe was Android-only, and a chunk of the negative sentiment online is really just iPhone users annoyed they couldn't access it. That's changed — there's now an iOS version with a strong early rating, though it's newer and hasn't accumulated the same review volume as the Android app.

If you're on iOS, go in expecting a slightly less battle-tested experience, and don't be shocked if a few of the featured games aren't available yet on your platform.

How Cash Giraffe Compares to Freecash and Scrambly

If you've bounced between apps in this category, you already know the drill: download games, rack up points, cash out, repeat. Cash Giraffe's main edge is that low first-payout threshold — it gets money into your hands faster than some competitors, which matters if you're testing the waters and want proof it's not a scam before committing real time.

Freecash tends to offer a broader mix of tasks beyond just gaming — surveys, offers, the occasional app trial — which means more variety but also more of the "fill out this form" tedium that turns some people off entirely. Scrambly leans harder into the game-only model, closer to Cash Giraffe, but user reports on payout speed are more mixed.

None of these apps is dramatically better than the others in a way that should decide things for you. What decides it is whether you actually enjoy mobile games enough to make the time feel worth it, regardless of the payout.

Tips to Get the Most Out of Cash Giraffe

Pick games you'd play anyway. If the game itself is a slog, no amount of gems makes that worthwhile.

Cash out early and often instead of letting gems pile up — the diminishing-returns pattern means there's no real benefit to waiting.

Keep the app updated and restart it if playtime stops tracking; this fixes the issue for most people who report it.

Don't chase every recommended game. Two or three you actually enjoy will out-earn five you're forcing yourself through.

If a payout stalls past a week, email support and then just wait it out — based on user reports and my own experience, it usually resolves on its own even without a response.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is Cash Giraffe safe to download? Y

Yes. It's a legitimate app from an established publisher with millions of downloads, and it doesn't ask for anything beyond standard app permissions.

Does Cash Giraffe really pay real money?

Yes, through PayPal or gift cards, once you hit the minimum gem threshold, which is lower than many competitors require.

Why did my Cash Giraffe playtime stop counting?

This is a known bug, especially on older devices. Restarting the game or the app, or reinstalling the specific game that stopped tracking, resolves it for most users.

Can you get rich using Cash Giraffe?

No. Treat it as a way to turn idle phone time into a few dollars a month, not a side income.

Is Cash Giraffe available on iPhone?

Yes, as of the current version — though the iOS app is newer than the Android version and has a smaller review history.

Final Verdict

Cash Giraffe does what it says on the label: play games, earn gems, cash out for real money. It won't make you rich, the gem system is more confusing than it needs to be, and if something goes wrong, don't expect fast help. But the payout minimum is genuinely low, the first cash-out comes quickly, and for the specific person who's already killing time on mobile games anyway, it's a reasonable way to make that time earn something instead of nothing.

After some testing, I believe know why the USB interface on the Ubiquiti UPL-Port device is not recognized in my use case for recording; it does work for playback. Please @UI-Team see details below.

Subject: UPL-Port USB Audio Capture Interface -
bNrChannels = 0
Firmware Bug Prevents Linux Recognition

Product: UniFi UPL-Port

Firmware version: 5.04 (as reported by
bcdDevice
in USB descriptor)

USB Vendor:Product ID: 1f9b:aa05

Affected function: USB Audio output (capture source to USB host)

Summary: When the UPL-Port USB-C port is configured as "Audio Output: USB" via the UniFi Play iOS app, Linux (and any OS using a UAC-compliant driver) cannot create an audio capture device. The
snd_usb_audio
kernel driver rejects
Interface 2, Altsetting 1
with the kernel message:

usb 3-2: 2:1 : invalid channels 0

Assumed Cause: The USB Audio Class (UAC1) FORMAT_TYPE descriptor on Interface 2 (labeled "Capture Active" in iInterface) reports
bNrChannels = 0
. Per the UAC specification, this field must be ≥ 1 for a valid audio streaming interface. The kernel correctly rejects this descriptor per spec, and no ALSA capture device is created.

The "
lsusb -v
" output confirms the defect:

Interface Descriptor:
bInterfaceNumber 2
bAlternateSetting 1
iInterface 15 Capture Active ← correctly labeled

  bFormatType 1 (FORMAT_TYPE_I)
  bNrChannels 0 ← BUG: should be 2

  bBitResolution 16
  tSamFreq[ 0] 48000

For comparison, Interface 1 (Playback) correctly reports
bNrChannels = 2
. The capture interface has the correct sample rate, bit depth, subframe size, and PCM format tag - only
bNrChannels
is wrong, strongly suggesting a firmware initialization or copy error.

Impact: UPL-Port USB audio output is non-functional on Linux. Windows and macOS may tolerate this malformed descriptor, but Linux strictly enforces UAC compliance.

Workaround: Used the UPL-Port S/PDIF output with a USB-to-S/PDIF optical adapter to achieve electrical isolation and correct enumeration.

Requested fix: Correct
bNrChannels
from
0
to
2
in the UAC FORMAT_TYPE descriptor for
Interface 2, Altsetting 1
.

#bug-report

I am going to be upgrading a family friend's house to a UniFi network. They currently have a Gen 1 Sonos Connect hooked into a Sony STR-DE185 Receiver that is then hooked into a Niles SSVC-4 speaker selector. Instead of replacing the Connect with a new Sonos Port, I was thinking of either the Audio Port to the Sony or just replace the Sony altogether with a Power Amp hooked to the speaker selector. Thoughts?

I can’t find any information as to what protocols the EAV Bridge is using for ip transport. What is it using? ST2110? NDI? TICO? SDVOE? Dante? AES67? Ravenna? Soundgrid? gigaACE? CobraNet? AVB? What? What are the requirements for switch fabric for its use and how much bandwidth is it using for standard formats and frame rates? I saw someone mentioning jumbo frames in one thread, does it need this? Is it only using multicast? For small deployments can it use unicast? What are the multicast requirements? I can’t buy or integrate any of these until it’s clear what it is doing and what it needs. Thank you for your help!

I have an Audio Port powered using USB-C, connected to LAN via Ethernet (receiving from AC Mesh that is meshing to another mesh with good signal), and transmitting audio from a TV via ARC and outputting to a receiver via RCA stereo. Occasionally when I leave the area of the device (pool) and walk inside my wifi connnection must be dropping (there is a mesh unit on the house and one at the pool so connection should be fine, but IF it is dropping...). My question is why would the Unifi Play device stop streaming the audio from my TV as it's source? It's not even using my phone for audio input.

Hello all,

Wanted to know if anyone else is running into a bug where if there wired audio source stops playing any audio for a minute or two, when the music or audio resumes it does not output from the unifi play boxes. My current setup is basically a buisness music system that outputs music via a computer, SPDIF, into the unifi play then I have a variety of diffrent output connections for diffrent outputs around the buisness. When the music stops at night per say or if I cut it off to play a PA announcement the box almost just timeouts and I have to go into the play app and toggle the wired source brodcast on and off for the audio to actually come through again.

If anyone else is having this issue please share and @UI-Team please look into this!
